One of the first European universities to offer both law and social science degrees in human rights, the University of Essex has been breaking new ground in higher education since its inception. Participate in programs such as accounting and finance, business, computer science and gaming, mathematics, psychology, sports science, film, philosophy, criminology, and more—all while living just an hour from London. With direct bus service to London Stansted International Airport, you have easy access to all of Europe.

 

Academics

  • Ask the SNHU Study Abroad Office about the minimum GPA requirement.

  • Semester and year-long programs available. Fall semester (UE’s autumn term): early October to mid-December. Spring semester: mid-January to late June (includes 4 modules during UE’s spring and summer terms). Note that if you attend Spring semester, UE classes do not run for about four weeks between the end of the spring term and the start of the summer term. For more information, click here.

(SNHU students go to only the Colchester campus.) Then, select “Limit results to include only incoming Essex Abroad Autumn Term/Spring Term/or Full Year modules,” depending on your plans.

 

Housing


Students live in on-campus apartments. Most accommodations are single bedrooms with fully equipped, shared kitchen space. There are different layouts with private or shared bathrooms. SNHU students typically choose the Towers or Courts, but recently some students lived in the Houses and Meadows. Learn more here.

  • Find other Extracurricular Opportunities here. Essex Abroad is the “first port of call” for incoming students and regularly runs events for Exchange students. These events are supported by peer mentors (Essex students who have been abroad and have returned for their final year of studies). Essex mentors help new students settle in.
